(above) Here is a "Butterfly Meeting". They gathered on a damp sandbar in Maple Creek.

Tiger Swallowtail on tithonia flower

This is a male luna moth, and he is or rather, was huge! Check out a closeup of his antennae! (below)

The female is an even more awesome example of nature's artistry but we don't kill 'em, we just take pictures of whatever we are lucky enough to find. Like, the deer below. He was standing on our side of Maple Creek, across the field that was our back yard for 15 years. Shooting through a window doesn't help the clarity, does it...

Angels are everywhere...ask them to show themselves whenever you watch the sky and clouds. :)
See it pointing toward a "star"? I love cloud-watching.

This young squirrel is "Hanky", a rescue that refused to return to the wild. He lives in the Broad River Gem Mine gift shop and museum, where he is well-loved, well-fed and has the run of the place when dogs are not present. Several stone carvings have become temporary hiding places for acorns and almonds. :)

A red poppy after dropping a petal.

Sunset on Maple Creek Rd., NC Or was it sun rise? We had some mighty peculiar transitions of light in our isolated thermal area, all beautiful, many inspiring.

The last rays of sunset on Maple Creek...I am sure this is a sun SET. :)

Tithonia (aka Mexican sunflower) can get "leggy" as leaves die but it continues to bloom and reach heights of 4-6 feet tall.
Wild Morning Glory Vines with contrasting deep purple flowers and green leaves help fill in the gaps.
